 As Michael Tucker approaches the end of his first term on the American Booksellers Association's Board of Directors this June, he finds the greatest sense of achievement in having contributed to the development of ABA's current educational programming. This week, the bookstore members of the American Booksellers Association began receiving ballots to elect three booksellers to serve three-year terms as directors on the ABA Board. The mailing of the ballot and a postage-paid return envelope were sent via the U.S. Postal Service.
 The cover of Mary E. Pearson's new novel, The Adoration of Jenna Fox, bears an image of a butterfly -- a deep blue one with slightly damaged wings. It's an image that holds special meaning for Pearson, who told BTW in a recent interview, "I like looking at it -- and I love the serendipity of it all."
 Richard Howorth, founder of Square Books in Oxford, Mississippi, former American Booksellers Association president, and current Oxford mayor, will be honored with the Authors Guild Award for Distinguished Service to the Literary Community at the Authors Guild Dinner on May 5. The dinner will be held at the Metropolitan Club in New York City, and will benefit the Authors Guild Foundation and the Authors League Fund.

At its January meeting, the American Booksellers Association's Board of Directors approved the report of the ABA Nominating Committee, chaired by ABA Board member Beth Puffer of Bank Street Bookstore in New York City. The Committee presented the Board with the names of three director candidates for three-year terms (2008 - 2011) on the Board. (Under ABA's bylaws, each year three members of the nine-member Board come to the end of their terms.)
