The results of balloting by the bookstore members of the American Booksellers Association to elect three Board directors and a new president and vice president are now official. Candidates elected to serve three-year terms as directors are Dan Chartrand of Water Street Bookstore in Exeter, New Hampshire; Ken White of SFSU Bookstore in San Francisco; and Michael Tucker of Books Inc., a current Board member who was elected to a second three-year term.

ABA membership also ratified the Board's choice of Gayle Shanks of Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, Arizona, to serve a one-year term as ABA president and Books Inc.'s Tucker to serve a one-year term as vice president/secretary. The election results were certified by the association's auditors, Marks Paneth & Shron LLP.

Ending their terms on the Board at the end of this month are current president Russ Lawrence of Chapter One Book Store in Hamilton, Montana, and Collette Morgan of Wild Rumpus in Minneapolis.

Continuing on the nine-member Board are Becky Anderson of Anderson's Bookshops in Naperville, Illinois; Steve Bercu of BookPeople in Austin, Texas; Tom Campbell of The Regulator Bookshop in Durham, North Carolina; Cathy Langer of Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver, Colorado; and Beth Puffer of Bank Street Bookstore in New York City, who chaired this year's Nominating Committee.

The Board transition will take place at ABA meetings to be held in conjunction with this month's BookExpo America in Los Angeles.
