Booksellers can now take advantage of special pricing on the new Glo HD eReader, plus new DIY web banners and handouts that coincide with Indies First and Black Friday events.

Across the country, booksellers are putting the finishing touches on festivities for Indies First, an initiative designed to celebrate local indie bookstores on Small Business Saturday, November 28.

Mark Thornton is the author of Kid Moses, a Summer/Fall 2015 Indies Introduce debut novel, which Elayna Trucker of Napa Bookmine called “a fascinating, moving, and damning look at child poverty and homelessness in modern Africa.”

Based on sales at independent bookstores nationwide for the eight-week period ending November 15, 2015.

New holiday designs for everything from posters and bookmarks to fliers and web banners are now available in the Bookseller DIY on BookWeb. 

Adam Shaughnessy is the author of The Entirely True Story of the Unbelievable FIB, a Summer/Fall 2015 Indies Introduce pick for middle-grade readers, which Kathleen McGonagle of Buttonwood Books & Toys called “an entertaining and engaging mixture of adventure, sleuthing, and mythology.” 

Small Business Saturday (November 28) and Indies First events are just two weeks away. To ensure your visiting authors and other special activities are promoted to consumers via the Indies First map on IndieBound.org, enter the event details now into the Indies First Activity Registry.

Booksellers now have access to new images, logos, and other promotional materials to help publicize Small Business Saturday and Indies First. The new materials are posted in BookWeb’s Designs & Downloads.

In addition to 20 Indie Next Great Reads and six Now in Paperback titles, the December Indie Next List features the debut of the Revisit & Rediscover program, which highlights three backlist titles selected by booksellers as enduring works, critical for bookstores to have on their shelves at all times.
 

Kate Scelsa is the author of Fans of the Impossible Life, a Summer/Fall 2015 Indies Introduce title for young adults, which features a trio of friends that Laura Donohoe of Malaprop’s Bookstore/Café called “three of the most interesting and authentic young adult voices I have ever read.”

Parnaz Foroutan is the author of The Girl From the Garden, a Summer/Fall 2015 Indies Introduce selection. “Foroutan writes of a family’s unraveling in a powerful story that will vividly live on in the reader’s memory and imagination. Brilliant!” said Rick Simonson of Elliott Bay Book Company.

Saturday, October 31, is the last day for ABA member stores to take advantage of Indies First publisher specials and for stores new to Indies Introduce to register for the Winter/Spring 2016 debut title program.

Nicholas Gannon is the author of The Doldrums, a Summer/Fall 2015 Indies Introduce title for middle-grade readers. Katie Orphan from The Last Bookstore called The Doldrums “a charming novel, sure to please fans of A Series of Unfortunate Events and Joan Aiken.”
