Next Wednesday, April 6, is the deadline for booksellers at all ABA member stores to cast their ballots for the 2016 Indies Choice and E.B. White Read-Aloud awards. Up to three booksellers per ABA member store location can make a reservation for the awards lunch at BEA.

M.G. Leonard is the author of Beetle Boy, a Winter/Spring Indies Introduce debut for middle-grade readers. Erin Barker of Hooray for Books! said Beetle Boy “feels like it was written by a scientifically-minded Roald Dahl.”

Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s debut novel, The Nest, the number one Indie Next List pick for April, is “funny, thoughtful, and filled with unique and complex characters,” said Jennifer Oleinik of University Book Store in Seattle.

Downloadable fliers and shelf-talkers are now available to promote the April Indie Next List’s Next Great Reads, Now in Paperback titles, and Revisit & Rediscover backlist favorites.

Booksellers at all ABA member stores are invited to cast their ballots to choose the winners of the 2016 Indies Choice and E.B. White Read-Aloud awards. The winners and finalists will be feted at the Celebration of Bookselling and Author Awards Lunch at BEA.

Heidi Heilig is the author of The Girl From Everywhere, a Winter/Spring Indies Introduce debut for young adults and Spring Kids’ Indie Next List pick. Alyssa Raymond of Boulder Book Store said the novel is “magical, diverse, and intricately plotted.”

Matthew Griffin is the author of the Winter/Spring Indies Introduce debut novel Hide, which William Carl of Wellesley Books called “one of the best books of the year.”

On Wednesday, March 16, booksellers at independent bookstores across the country began casting their ballots to choose the winners of the 2016 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards.

Based on sales at independent bookstores nationwide for the eight-week period ending March 6, 2016.

Rashod Ollison is the author of Soul Serenade: Rhythm, Blues & Coming of Age Through Vinyl, a Winter/Spring 2016 Indies Introduce debut title. Jamie Fiocco of Flyleaf Books called Soul Serenade “a heartbreaking, gratifying memoir.”

Underwater by Marisa Reichardt, a Winter/Spring Indies Introduce debut title for young adults and a Winter Kids’ Indie Next List pick, “is a true beauty on all counts,” said Will Walton of Avid Bookshop. 

To address an ongoing challenge facing indie booksellers, ABA has created a customizable handout that encourages authors and other hosts of consumer websites to link to independent bookstores for book sales.

Gavriel Savit is the author of Anna and the Swallow Man, a Winter/Spring 2016 Indies Introduce debut title for young adults. Sara Grochowski of Brilliant Books called the novel “an affecting story that readers won’t soon forget.”

The ISBN for Fellside, by M.R. Carey (Orbit), on the April Indie Next List published in the March 2 edition of Bookselling This Week was incorrect.
