Book recommendation website and newsletter Off the Shelf will be on hand at the Children’s Institute Backlist Book Swap to interview participants on camera about the backlist children’s book they will be sharing with colleagues.

This July, 250 independent bookstores will participate in the fifth anniversary year of Find Waldo Local, a shop local challenge co-sponsored by Candlewick Press and ABA.

As part of a larger ABA initiative to provide members with new opportunities to support backlist titles, the Children’s Institute Backlist Book Swap invites all attendees to share their favorite backlist kids’ books with colleagues.

Artwork from a dozen children’s book illustrators will be raffled off later this month at the ABC Children’s Institute.

At next month’s Children’s Institute, Dr. Dana Suskind will present the featured talk “Thirty Million Words: Building a Child’s Brain,” which will look at how early language exposure through books and conversation can change a child’s future.

The ABC Children’s Group at ABA has revealed the art to be featured on the cover of the 2016 ABC Best Books for Young Readers catalog, scheduled to land in stores in early October.

The award for this year’s Children’s Book Week display contest goes to Wild Rumpus bookstore in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for its creative garden-themed window design inspired by the exciting new children’s books springing up each season.

All Children’s Institute attendees planning to participate in the Backlist Book Swap party, which kicks off the institute on Tuesday, June 21, are reminded to pack their favorite kids’ book and a bookmark to share, and to let ABA know now what they’ll be bringing.
