On Friday, June 10, BookSense.com moved its servers to a new location, closer to ABA's office, allowing for easier maintenance and resulting in significant cost savings. BookSense.com sites were brought down at approximately 2:30 Eastern Time on Friday afternoon and were made live again at about midnight on the same day. Total down time was just under 10 hours.

POS vendor WordStock recently announced that it has developed an interface to support full access to the Book Sense Gift Card Program. Booksellers must have high-speed Internet access and WordStock version 4.20C in order to integrate with WordStock. Installation fees will vary, and there is a $20 monthly fee in addition other Book Sense gift cards fees.

Here's an important reminder for all booksellers with Book Sense: Effective June 1, less than a week away, bookstores must stop selling Book Sense paper gift certificates. Any Book Sense Paper gift certificate sold and dated after June 1, 2005, will not be valid and will not be considered for reimbursement. However, in order to protect consumers, booksellers will still be required to accept valid paper gift certificates sold prior to that date as per local/state laws and other criteria set forth by Book Sense.
