Friday, July 15, is the deadline for the Book Sense Banned Books Week Top Ten.
The Faribault Daily News of Faribault, Minnesota, recently joined hundreds of magazines, newspapers, and websites across the country featuring the Book Sense Bestseller List. The Bestseller List's inclusion in the newspaper was the result of the efforts of Faribault's Central Avenue Bookstore.
During a casual conversation with her local bookseller at Romo Books in Far Hills, New Jersey, Diana Lawrence went from book buyer to bookstore buyer in less time than it takes to browse the bestsellers. In the spring of 2001, Lawrence was recently retired from a long career on Wall Street, when Joseph Romo mentioned that Romo Books was for sale.
Here is the full listing of the August Book Sense Picks, with booksellers' comments, as well as a preview of August Book Sense Notables. Independent booksellers in the Book Sense program will be receiving their Picks fliers in the July Red Box.
Here's a quick reminder of two upcoming Book Sense Picks deadlines:
- Friday, July 8, is the deadline for the September Book Sense Picks List, and
- Friday, July 15, is the deadline for the Book Sense Banned Books Top Ten.
The September Picks list is a significant one -- with many notable titles scheduled -- and the Banned Books Top Ten was a very popular addition to the Picks line-up last year.
