Midtown Reader Aims to Connect With Customers in the Age of Alexa

In celebration of the store’s third anniversary, Midtown Reader in Tallahassee, Florida, partnered with a local production company to create a short clip called “Ask Alexis.”
The video, said Whitney Gilchrist, director of community engagement at Midtown Reader, aims to promote indie bookstores by illustrating the experience of connecting with a real bookseller in the age of Amazon’s Alexa, and features one the store’s own booksellers, whose name is Alexis.
The video promotes Midtown Reader as being powered by AI — “actual intelligence” — and encourages viewers to visit their neighborhood bookstore.
