April Meetups to Cover Independent Bookstore Day, Gravity Payments
- By Emily Behnke
Each month, the American Booksellers Association hosts both a Marketing Meetup and a Technology Meetup for bookseller members.
All booksellers are invited to join the Meetups, which typically run 45 minutes to an hour; advance registration is required.
Here’s whats on tap for April:
Marketing Meetup: Independent Bookstore Day
Thursday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m. ET
This Marketing Meetup will focus on Independent Bookstore Day and will include an overview of the annual event, why it’s important, and how some bookstores are celebrating and promoting it this year.
Booksellers interested in attending should use the sign-up form at the bottom of the ABA Meetups page to join the appropriate mailing list. Signup is only necessary once to receive credentials for all Marketing Meetups for the rest of 2021. A few hours before each event, ABA will send the meeting link to those who have signed up for the mailing list.
Technology Meetup: Gravity Payments
Thursday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m. ET
ABA recently partnered with Gravity Payments to offer credit card processing services to bookstore members. Gravity Payments, which came recommended by several booksellers, is led by CEO Dan Price, who launched the company because he saw independent businesses being overcharged and underserved by their credit card processors.
During this session, representatives from Gravity Payments will discuss their service, provide a short presentation, and be available for questions from members.
Booksellers interested in attending should use the sign-up form at the bottom of the ABA Meetups page to join the appropriate mailing list. Signup is only necessary once to receive credentials for all Technology Meetups for the rest of 2021. A few hours before each event, ABA will send the meeting link to those who have signed up for the mailing list.
