This week, the American Booksellers Association announced the names of 37 authors and illustrators who will participate in the publisher-sponsored Author Reception at the Fifth Annual Winter Institute (Wi5).

Graphic novels have reached a tipping point, and booksellers can position themselves to benefit, says Diamond Book Distributors sales manager John Shableski, a presenter at ABA's upcoming Winter Institute.

This week, the American Booksellers Association welcomed HarperCollins Children's Books as the newest Winter Institute (Wi5) Publisher Partner. Thanks to HarperCollins Children's Books' support, Shirley Mullin, owner of Kids Ink Children's Bookstores in Indianapolis, Indiana, will be attendingWi5 in San Jose, California, on a scholarship.

Registration for the American Booksellers Association's Fifth Annual Winter Institute (Wi5) is now booked to capacity. ABA bookstore and provisional members who would like to add their names to a waiting list should send an e-mail to Wi5@bookweb.org.

Booksellers who enroll with PartnerShip, ABA's Discount Shipping Program provider, between now and the Fifth Annual Winter Institute, this February, will be able to ship books and other packages from the host hotel, the Doubletree San Jose, at significant savings. An enrollment form for those not already taking advantage of this free ABA member benefit is available here and in the December Red Box mailing.

The Emerging Leaders Council has announced the winners of its scholarships for ABA's Fifth Annual Winter Institute. The scholarships, sponsored by Ingram, will cover the cost of lodging, transportation, and the Wi5 meal fee for a bookseller from each of the regional trade associations (except the host region, Northern California) to attend the Winter Institute.

This week, the American Booksellers Association welcomed two new Winter Institute (Wi5) Publisher Partners: Macmillan Children's Publishing Group and Other Press. Thanks to their generosity two more ABA member booksellers will be able to attend Wi5 in San Jose, California, on a scholarship.

The Fifth Annual Winter Institute is fast approaching, and ABA staff is busy putting together an outstanding educational program.
