Sandra Evans is the author of the Summer/Fall 2016 Indies Introduce middle-grade debut This Is Not a Werewolf Story, which Lisa Nehs of Books & Company said is “a wonderful mix of mythology, mystery, and suspense.”

Brit Bennett’s debut novel, The Mothers, is “an honest, modern, and triumphant book” that explores the kind of salvation “that comes with self-acceptance and growth,” said Women & Children First’s Jamie Thomas.

For the ninth consecutive season, publishers are offering specials on 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles chosen by panels of booksellers from across the U.S. as the top upcoming debuts.

Robin MacArthur is the author of the Summer/Fall 2016 Indies Introduce debut Half Wild: Stories, a collection of connected stories depicting the hardscrabble lives of people living in rural Vermont. 

A new monthly Indie Next List e-newsletter, powered by Shelf Awareness, will be available this fall free of charge to ABA member stores to offer to their customers. Stores can sign up for the e-newsletter program now.

ABA today announced author/director Lena Dunham as the 2016 official spokesperson for Indies First, the national campaign of activities and events in support of independent bookstores, which takes place on Small Business Saturday, the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Michelle Pretorius is the author of the Summer/Fall 2016 Indies Introduce debut The Monster’s Daughter, which Linda Sherman-Nurick of Cellar Door Books described as “part mystery, part historical fiction, part science fiction, and, above all, a page-turning read.”

The October Indie Next List flier, now on its way to stores in the IndieBound movement, features the month’s Indie Next Great Reads, Now in Paperback titles, and Revisit & Rediscover backlist favorites.

As part of its ongoing Indie Next List Years of Discovery Campaign, ABA is offering members who have never submitted a blurb to the Indie Next Lists a chance to win two free hotel nights at BookExpo America 2017.

Margot Harrison is the author of the Summer/Fall 2016 Indies Introduce debut The Killer in Me, which Valerie Koehler of Blue Willow Bookshop called a “must-read thriller for teens.”

Atef Abu Saif is the author of The Drone Eats With Me: A Gaza Diary, a Summer/Fall 2016 Indies Introduce debut. Mary Fran Buckley of Eight Cousins said Abu Saif’s account is “testimony that must be heard.”
