Here, the IndieCommerce team shares an important look at current trends in the world of e-commerce.

The e-commerce conversion rate (the percentage of customers who complete an online transaction) has remained consistent over most of the past week, at about 4.30 percent. Last Wednesday, following the news regarding the decision by Dr. Seuss Enterprises to cease publishing six Seuss titles, the conversion rate hit a high of 4.95 percent, with the majority of that spike stemming from customers purchasing Dr. Seuss titles.

The traffic pattern for the past seven days has remained fairly normal, with the usual weekend dip. As with the conversion rate mentioned above, the number of users on Wednesday, March 3, was still fairly high following the spike in traffic on Tuesday that we reported last week.

Expect this traffic and sales pattern to continue at these levels through the end of the month — unless we experience another unexpected news event that impacts our system.
