Cart Settings

Your shopping cart is configured by default, however, there are settings you can adjust to alter the shopping experience for your customers.

BASIC SETTINGS

  1. PANES

Preorders

As preorders are becoming an increasingly important way in which books are sold and marketed through stores, we’ve compiled a list of the Preorder features we offer.

NEW: Stores can now choose to show preorders as 'On Our Shelves Now' as long as the store is using Local Store Inventory and the preorder is present in the LSI file.

Handling Fraudulent Orders

This session will:

  • Help participants avoid becoming victims of credit card fraud on their websites
  • Highlight certain common fraudulent behaviors and scams
  • Review basic measures for fraud protection

Wishlists / Gift Registry

This live demo will cover everything a bookseller needs to know about the Multiple Wish List feature, including:

  • Promoting it on their IndieCommerce site to helping their customers use the feature.
  • How  the wish list feature is especially helpful for stores looking to partner with schools, libraries, and book fairs.

Abandoned Cart

When a customer adds items to a shopping cart, provides their contact information but does not complete the checkout, that shopping cart is considered as an ‘abandoned cart’. The orders associated with these abandoned carts will be in the ‘In checkout’ status. Your website can be configured to send reminder emails to customers who abandoned their cart.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS FEATURE

  • Reminder emails can be sent either after 24 hrs or 48 hrs

BULK IMPORTER

Welcome to the IndieCommerce custom product bulk importer! This system is designed to help you create and manage a large number of custom products on your IndieCommerce website.

REQUIRED READING

Before using this system, it's important to be up on the basics of custom products. If you've never created a custom product class before, please see the help documentation on BookWeb.org:

Rules

The Rules module allows site administrators to create actions that are automatically triggered by various events when certain conditions are met.

3 PARTS TO RULES

Rules are made up of 3 parts:

Custom Checkout Panes

Stores have the option to create two custom checkout panes within the IndieCommerce checkout flow.

NOTE: The ‘Custom Checkout Pane’ modules need to be enabled for your site. Please send us a request from the Store Features page (Store > Configuration > Account Information and Preferences > Store Features).

CONFIGURE CUSTOM CHECKOUT PANE 1

Example use-case : Provide customers a newsletter opt-in during checkout

Sales Tax

For online sales in-state orders are taxed by default. Out-of-state orders are usually not taxed. However, if the store frequently ships orders to other states, it is important to know the Sales Tax Nexus rules for those states.

Affiliates

An affiliate program is a marketing tool that would allow approved participants to earn commissions by placing unique links on their website referring customers back to your website, increasing sales and traffic through your website. How does it work? Once you have accepted someone as an affiliate, they can set up links on their site that will drive traffic to your site. Customers who follow those links are tracked, and if a sale happens during that customer visit, the affiliate commissions are determined (In the end the store is responsible for paying the affiliates directly).

Reports

There are several reports available to you that you can use to gain insights into sales on your website, who is using your website and other useful information. You can use these reports as they are or you may customize them to suit your needs.

NEW: This document has been updated as of 7/19/2021 to reflect new Financial Reports that have been recently added. See below for more details.
