Manhattan's Park Central, which is conveniently located in midtown, offers special low rates exclusively for ABA member booksellers planning to attend this month's BookExpo America. To take advantage of the special rates -- $179 for one or two beds, single or double occupancy; $199 for triple occupancy; and $219 for a quad -- booksellers must make their reservations by noon EDT on Monday, May 10. After that time, standard rates apply.
Hundreds of authors are scheduled to appear at BookExpo America in an array of free and ticketed events. Here's a quick rundown, with links to complete details on the BEA website.
Thirteen indie bookstores will welcome booksellers to New York City for next month's trade show with open houses on Monday evening, May 24. The owners and staff of the participating stores are looking forward to greeting their ABA colleagues with a warm reception and some light refreshments. The Open House festivities are co-sponsored by the participating businesses, the American Booksellers Association, and BookExpo America.
The Random House Publishing Group will be sponsoring a reception for IndieBound booksellers at The Park Central, the hotel for ABA members, during BookExpo America. Special guests will include Justin Cronin, author of The Passage, the number-one Indie Next List Great Read for June.
Booksellers are invited to come share an informal nightcap with Cronin and other authors who will be in attendance.
With BookExpo America less than four weeks away, reservations for the ABA member-only hotel and for the May 26 Celebration of Bookselling are going fast. ABA is encouraging booksellers who would like to take advantage of each to reserve now.
