BookExpo America and the American Booksellers Association are joining forces for the Opening Plenary session at next month's trade show to create a major event of interest to all convention goers. The plenary will feature seven of the book industry's leading executives in a timely discussion about the "value of a book," an issue of concern to the entire industry.

ABA's Celebration of Bookselling Luncheon, a highlight of BookExpo America exclusively for ABA member booksellers, will be sponsored this year by Baker & Taylor.

All seven winners of this year's Indies Choice Book Awards will participate in next month's Celebration of Bookselling at BookExpo America. The May 26 lunchtime event, sponsored by Baker & Taylor, celebrates the relationship between indie booksellers and the titles they most enjoyed handselling during the past year.

 The American Booksellers Association's Day of Education, sponsored by Ingram, will feature an impressive lineup of booksellers and publishing executives at the forefront of the industry, as well as representatives of small business advocacy groups, ABA staff, and others, including Google's Tom Turvey and Verso Digital's Jack McKeown.

Due to BookExpo America's move to a shortened, mid-week schedule, the Day of Education will be held on Tuesday, May 25, at New York's Javits Convention Center.

The Association of Booksellers for Children has released a rundown of programming for children's booksellers at next month's BookExpo America. Offerings include everything from educational sessions on serving the tween reader and the nuts and bolts of kids' bookselling, presented in conjunction with ABA's Day of Education on Tuesday, May 25, to some very special author events and ABC's annual Silent Auction.

There's still time for booksellers interested in attending the Celebration of Bookselling Lunch or participating in the Day of Education's "It's A Wrap" Video Lab to make reservations.

The Park Central Hotel, just 20 blocks north of New York's Javits Convention Center, is the official "ABA Hotel" for BookExpo America 2010.

The American Booksellers Association is sponsoring a free, one-day "Introduction to Retail Bookselling" Seminar, on Monday, May 24, at New York's Javits Convention Center, just prior to the Day of Education and BookExpo America. The seminar, facilitated by the Bookstore Training Group of Paz & Associates, is geared toward people interested in opening a bookstore.

The spirit of indie booksellers and the 2010 Indies Choice Book Award winners will be honored at ABA's Celebration of Bookselling Lunch at BookExpo America. Two booksellers from each ABA member store can reserve a spot at the Celebration, to be held on Wednesday, May 26, at New York's Javits Convention Center.

The free event, open exclusively to owners and staff at ABA member stores, will bring together indie booksellers and dozens of authors whose works have appeared on the Indie Next Lists.

The owners and staff at all ABA member stores have less than a week remaining to cast their ballots for the winners of the 2010 Indies Choice Book Awards. All votes must be received by midnight on Wednesday, March 31.

Booksellers at ABA member stores can now make reservations for the Park Central, the official "ABA Hotel" for BookExpo America 2010. The Park Central's location, just 20 blocks north of New York's Javits Convention Center, near Times Square, provides easy access to the trade show and ABA and BEA educational programming and special events.

The American Booksellers Association today unveils the programming for its eighth annual Day of Education, to be held on Tuesday, May 25, at BookExpo America. This year's trade show will be held from Tuesday, May 25, through Thursday, May 28, at New York's Javits Convention Center.

The owners and staff at all ABA member stores still have time to cast their ballots online to choose the winners of the 2010 Indies Choice Book Awards.

All ABA Regular Bookstore and Provisional members are eligible for free admission to BookExpo America 2010. The number of free badges will be based on a bookstore's ABA dues category. (A dues category one store will receive one badge; a category two store, two badges, etc.) An additional BEA badge is available for each staff member who attended the 2010 Winter Institute in San Jose.
