This week, ABA announced that the 2013 Winter Institute will be held in Kansas City, Missouri. Wi8 will begin with an opening reception on Friday, February 22, 2013, and will feature programming from Saturday, February 23, to Monday, February 25.

On Thursday, November 10, ABA announced that Joy Dallanegra-Sanger, a long-time book industry professional, was joining the association as senior program officer, a newly created senior executive position.

Monday, October 31, is the deadline to nominate candidates to serve on the American Booksellers Association’s Board of Directors.

ABA members have less than two weeks left to nominate candidates to serve on the association’s Board of Directors. Nominations can be sent to the ABA Nominating Committee via an electronic or print nomination form.

ABA has entered into a new partnership with Civic Economics that will enable 10 communities with an active ABA member bookstore to work directly with Civic Economics at a reduced rate to create a customized study examining the economic benefits of local, independent retailers.

Over the course of four days last week, the ABA Board of Directors met in Austin, Texas, to consider a range of issues of concern to independent booksellers.

From now until the end of June 2012, Museum Store Association  members in good standing may join ABA as regular bookstore members, with all benefits, for $100.

There are just a few weeks left to nominate candidates to serve on ABA’s Board of Directors. Any ABA member may submit the name of a candidate via an electronic or print nomination form by the October 31 deadline.
