The American Booksellers Association’s Board of Directors met on May 27–28, 2019, in White Plains, New York, just prior to the start of BookExpo, to address a number of issues.

For the store’s first meeting, attendees discussed Edim’s Well-Read Black Girl, an anthology with contributions from Jesmyn Ward, Jacqueline Woodson, and Tayari Jones, among other prominent women writers of color.

The third chapter in the Well-Read Black Girl Ambassador Orientation and Book Club Starter Guide will help participating booksellers facilitate book club discussions.

Last year, ABA announced the establishment of a new code of conduct for all association meetings and events, which is available for review on BookWeb.

The meeting on Thursday, May 30, brought a number of booksellers to the microphone to address a range of issues.

The second chapter in the Well-Read Black Girl Ambassador Orientation and Book Club Starter Guide will help participating booksellers launch their book club.

The customized reports and online tools that reporting stores receive in return for filling out the survey provide a full picture of a bookstore’s financial performance and key information for strategic planning.

Some authors will be autographing exclusively for ABA member booksellers in the ABA Member Lounge and Galley Room.

The annual meeting agenda will include announcing the results of ABA’s election, reports on the association’s activities over the past year, and updates on new and ongoing initiatives.
