Bookstores that have scheduled one or more author readings for Indies First Storytime Day (May 17) should complete the editable Event Detail Form on BookWeb so that their store’s location will appear on IndieBound’s Event Map. Many authors have signed on to read at independent bookstores across the country on May 17 as part of this year’s celebration of Children’s Book Week (May 12–18). Among them is Kate DiCamillo, the 2014–2015 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, who spearheaded the movement by inviting her fellow authors to participate in Indies First Storytime Day in a February letter.

All booksellers hosting an Indies First Storytime Day event, no matter how traditional or untraditional, are invited to provide their information and to be listed on the Indies First Storytime Day map. Map visitors can locate their nearest Indies First Storytime Day event and see the specifics for their local stores, including event times and details, visiting authors and recent titles, and store contact information.

Plenty of authors are still looking to be paired with their local bookstores for Indies First Storytime Day events. Booksellers looking for an author to host should peruse the Reader Volunteer Index to see what authors are available.

Additionally, booksellers looking to add event details or to make changes to their information for Indies First Storytime Day do not need to register again; the information is editable by following the link provided in the store’s Indies First  event confirmation e-mail. If booksellers cannot find their confirmation e-mail, they should notify ABA’s Anne Caldwell.
