BookExpo is continuing to seek American Booksellers Association bookstore members for the BookExpo 2019 Bestsellers Grant Program, which provides a stipend to attend the May 29–31 event in New York City. This is the final opportunity for stores to submit their information for this program.

Grants of $1,000 will be awarded to selected stores that have not attended BookExpo in the past five years. In addition, new stores and owners who have not attended BookExpo in the past are eligible for a $2,000 grant and the opportunity to bring a second attendee; a “new” store or owner is a store that opened in the past three years or owner that took over an existing store in the past three years.

Booksellers can submit their names to ABA Senior Membership Manager Daniel O’Brien, who will verify eligibility; Reed Exhibitions, the event organizer for BookExpo, will select the winners and administer the grants.

The brand-new grant program was designed by BookExpo this year to make it possible for new independent booksellers to experience and benefit from all that the event has to offer, as those who have not recently attended have not had the chance to experience new programming specifically developed for indies.

The selected booksellers will receive a designated stipend, which can be used towards travel, accommodations, and other expenses incurred during their stay in New York City.

Interested booksellers can e-mail O’Brien by April 17.
