November 29 Marketing Meetup to Focus on Audiobooks
As the popularity of the American Booksellers Association’s online Marketing Meetups grows, all booksellers are invited to participate in the bookseller-led educational conversations, which are conducted through Zoom.us and held at 11:00 a.m. EST on two Thursdays a month. Booksellers who would like to participate should e-mail [email protected] for an invitation and instructions.
On Thursday, November 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EST, ABA will present a discussion on marketing audiobooks. With Forbes calling audiobooks one of the publishing industry’s 2018 trends earlier this year and a recent Publishers Weekly article highlighting the surging digital audio market in the U.S., there’s no better time to cover best practices from fellow booksellers.
Guest panelists include:
- Suzanne Droppert, Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo and Bremerton, Washington
- Matt Norcross, Mclean & Eakin Booksellers in Petoskey, Michigan
- Mark Pearson, Libro.fm, a digital audiobook provider for independent bookstores
In order to hold one final meetup before the end of the year, ABA is inviting booksellers to a Thursday, December 6, conversation on marketing for children’s bookstores, specifically how it may differ from that of a general bookstore and what initiatives some stores are taking, both digitally and locally.
Guest panelists include:
- Drew Sieplinga, Wild Rumpus in Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Cecilia Cackley, East City Bookshop in Washington, D.C.
- Hilary Barrineau, Hooray for Books in Alexandria, Virginia
Regular twice-monthly Marketing Meetups will resume in January. E-mail [email protected] to sign up for any of the upcoming meetups.
