In June, the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association (NCIBA), led by Executive Director Calvin Crosby, launched a beta version of the Indie Bookseller Maker Marketplace, a portal in which indie booksellers across the country can both sell and purchase unique items created and listed by booksellers.

NCIBA Operations Manager Ann Seaton told Bookselling This Week that the idea behind the marketplace centers on the fact that independent bookstores are always looking for unique items to sell in-store. “On top of that, we have such creative and amazing booksellers that also create and sell these things,” she said. “Why not match them up?”

The marketplace features unique items such as recycled glass candles, wall calendars, magnets, bookish T-shirts, postcards, and more. Listings are posted on the marketplace through Seaton, and interested parties can contact the vendor directly to settle final pricing and conditions.

“People are excited to be posting their wares and, hopefully, there are bookstores out there who are excited to order these things in,” said Seaton, noting that NCIBA will be checking in with vendors in January to evaluate the beta marketplace. “I hope that booksellers and bookseller makers out there find it useful.”

The marketplace is open to booksellers across the United States. Booksellers who would like to list their own products can contact Seaton with the following information for the listing:
