Those booksellers who are Book Sense Gift Card Program participants, or are thinking about joining the popular program, should note that four POS vendors currently offer an interface to support full access to the Book Sense Gift Card Program.

The vendors that are fully certified to process Book Sense Gift Cards are:

  • BookLog -- for more information on the requirements and costs for BookLog (Credit Card Verification Interface and PC Charge, Version 5.7), contact technical support at (800) 977-8212, ext. 260, or at [email protected];

  • Computac/Square One -- for more information on the requirements and costs for Computac/Square One (release level 13.x and PC Charge) contact Mike Hartman at (603) 298-5721, or via e-mail at [email protected];

  • IBID -- for more information on the requirements and costs for IBID (verision 14), contact IBID Technical Support at (800) 443-8897, ext. 1, or via e-mail Mike Feldman at [email protected].; and

  • WordStock -- for more information on the requirements and costs for WordStock (version 4.20C) contact WordStock sales at (800) 753-WORD, or via e-mail at [email protected].

Booksellers who do not see their POS vendor listed should contact them directly to inquire about integration timelines/plans or contact Jill Perlstein, ABA marketing director, at [email protected]. Booksellers will still have access to processing over the Internet (WebPOS), the administrative site, and the telephone backup system even if they process gift cards through their POS vendor or stand-alone terminals.

Any booksellers who are already signed up for the program are asked to contact both their POS vendor and Jill Perlstein if they wish to now process through one of these integrated systems. Booksellers just signing up can note their primary method of processing on the order form.

For those booksellers planning on joining the program, now's a great time, since it generally takes about two weeks after all the paperwork and artwork have been submitted to receive gift cards. This will provide plenty of time to ensure that staff are trained before the holidays.
