Direct From Kobo: Two Great Reasons to Encourage Digital Reading This Summer

Here, directly from Kobo, are details and sign-up information for eRead Local, an incentive program aimed at encouraging customers at ABA member stores to give e-reading a try:

Get your customers visiting your store even more often — whether in person or online. Beginning August 22, 2015, and running until November 29, 2015, participating ABA stores will receive $5 USD for every new Kobo customer acquired as part of the eRead Local Program.

For indie bookstores, this means more customers, increased revenue, and the ability to make money on every digital sale made by affiliate customers — including sales of self-published Kobo Writing Life content and digital extras.

But it’s not only the bookseller that benefits — each new customer who creates a Kobo account through an affiliate ABA member will receive a $5 credit for use toward their first purchase of any Kobo eBook.

How do I get involved?

For ABA members, selling eBooks with Kobo is as simple as e-mailing [email protected] to sign up for the affiliate program and then letting customers know about it.

Stores that partner with Kobo will have the option to download a full Kobo marketing kit, which will include a term sheet, promotional posters, online banners, and a reading app communication guideline.

Encourage customers to try digital and you could win prizes. During the eRead Local Program, bookstores that acquire 50 new customers or more will be entered for a chance to win an in-store event with a bestselling author. In addition, five Kobo Glo HD eReaders will be awarded to the indie bookstore that accumulates the largest number of new Kobo affiliated accounts during the 100-day contest period.
