BookExpo America show organizers have announced that the 2010 trade show will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 10 - 13. This will be the first time that the show has been in Las Vegas since 1990.

Noting that Las Vegas has experienced considerable growth since then, BEA show director Lance Fensterman said, "I view this return to Las Vegas in the same way that I view getting a new book in the hands of a reader ... it's a fresh experience that will be entertaining and rewarding. When the show hasn't been in a city for a long time, as was the case last year with Washington D.C., I think it brings a sense of newness, excitement and energy to the convention experience."

Officials at BEA noted that an additional priority in choosing Las Vegas was to have another location for the show west of the Mississippi that offers easy accessibility with flights from many locations and a broad range of hotels at every price level.

Fensterman is currently negotiating cities for the trade show through the year 2020. "I hope to create a three to four year rotation in New York with the Midwest and the West represented in between," he said.

To date, BEA trade shows are scheduled for:

  • 2007: New York City, May 31 - June 3, Jacob K. Javits Center
  • 2008: Los Angeles, May 30 - June 1, Los Angeles Convention Center
  • 2009: New York City, May 28 - May 31, Jacob K. Javits Center
  • 2010: Las Vegas, June 10 - 13, Las Vegas Convention Center
