Earlier this month, the American Booksellers Association announced a new affiliate relationship with credit card processing company Bancard Systems, which is offering ABA members exclusive, low rates and free side-by-side rate comparisons.
Brad Smith, owner of Paulina Springs Books in Sisters and Redmond, Oregon, recently signed his business up for Bancard’s services. “They were very quick to respond,” said Smith, who reached out to Bancard to inquire about the potential savings in credit card processing as soon as he learned of the affiliate partnership. From getting quotes to signing up, “the process has been super easy,” he said.
Another bonus, said Smith: Bancard’s “fine print is perhaps 10 pages shorter than with other credit card companies I’ve dealt with.”
Paulina Springs secured Bancard’s advertised rates of 0.12 percent and $0.06. All ABA members are eligible for the same rates, which translate into paying Bancard 12 cents for every $100 worth of transactions, plus six cents for each transaction.
Bancard is equipped to work with a variety of point-of-sale vendors to ensure easy integration of systems and offers customer service 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
Representatives from Bancard will also be available at the ABA Indie Bookseller Lounge at BookExpo America this May. Stay tuned to BTW for more information.
This offer from Bancard is available to ABA member bookstores in good standing in all membership categories; booksellers can renew their memberships by mail or via this online form.
