Indies First Order Deadline

To take advantage of special offers on a wide range of frontlist and backlist titles from publishers that are showing their support for the third annual celebration of Indies First on Small Business Saturday (November 28), ABA member stores must place their orders by October 31.

Special promo codes, as well as Indies First promotional materials, are available here.

Stores that have already arranged for their favorite local authors and illustrators to serve as honorary booksellers for the day are encouraged to add their event details to the Store Indies First Activity Registry, so they can be publicized on the Indies First map on IndieBound.org. (It may take up to 48 hours for the Indies First map to reflect a store’s submission.)

Booksellers who are still looking for an author or illustrator who is willing to serve as a guest bookseller on Small Business Saturday can also consult the Indies First Author and Illustrator Index to find contact information for possible participants, and then reach out directly.

Complete details and resources for booksellers and authors wishing to take part in this year’s Indies First celebrations are available here.

Indies Introduce Sign-up Deadline for New Participants

Publishers are offering specials on 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles chosen by panels of booksellers from across the U.S. as the top debuts of the upcoming season. The Winter/Spring 2016 Indies Introduce titles include adult fiction and nonfiction, middle grade, and YA publishing between January and June 2016.

Stores that are new to Indies Introduce must complete the Indies Introduce sign-up form by October 31 to participate in the program; for stores that have taken part in past Indies Introduce promotions, there’s no need to sign up to take advantage of publishers’ Winter/Spring offers.

Access to the list of titles with bookseller blurbs, full details on publishers’ offers, and promotional materials are available to ABA member booksellers with a BookWeb username and password here.

Also available to help ABA members promote current and past Indies Introduce picks is an archive of Indies Introduce author interviews from Bookselling This Week. Stores are welcome to adapt these interviews or run them as is in store newsletters, on blogs, etc.; booksellers are just asked to let ABA know if they do.

A complete list of Indies Introduce title selections, all chosen by booksellers since the program began in winter/spring 2013, is available here.
