The American Booksellers Association will be at this fall’s Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association trade show to offer educational programming, meet with booksellers about their concerns, and share updates on ABA’s programs and initiatives. Joining booksellers at the show, which runs from Thursday to Saturday, September 20 - 22, at Colorado’s Renaissance Denver Hotel, will be ABA CEO Oren Teicher, Senior Program Officer Joy Dallanegra-Sanger, and Member Relationship Manager Nathan Halter.

From 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, ABA staff will present the education session “E-Books and Independent Bookstores.” This program will introduce booksellers to a new way of selling e-books. Attendees will get the latest updates and an in-depth introduction to a digital solution that can add value to their bricks-and-mortar businesses. There will also be an opportunity for booksellers to ask questions.

In addition, ABA will be staffing a booth on the trade show floor, where booksellers are invited to learn more about how indies can continue to play a role in the world of e-books and how they can participate in a unique way in Small Business Saturday this November. The booth will also feature information on ABA’s first-ever Events Specialty Institute to be held this October in Minneapolis, and about the Eighth Annual Winter Institute to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, in February 2013.

Booksellers who drop off a business card at the ABA booth will earn an extra entry in a sweepstakes to win a Wi8 scholarship, covering up to four nights’ accommodations at the host hotel, a maximum of $350 in travel expenses, and the $75 Wi8 meal fee.

Complete trade show details are available on the MPIBA website.

Booksellers with questions about ABA’s participation at the MPIBA show should contact Nathan Halter via e-mail or at (800) 637-0037, ext. 6614.
