More than 50 bookstore owners and event managers gathered this week for the NAIBA/NEIBA “All About Events” retreat to discuss why booksellers should host events, how to work with publicists and authors, and the importance of publicity kits and author request grids, among other topics.

This weekend, 11 independent booksellers will be exhibiting at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, to be held at the University of Southern California just prior to the ABC Children’s Institute.

ABA’s schedule of 10 spring Booksellers Forums will come to an end on April 28 and 29 with events in Washington, D.C., and Cambridge, Massachusetts, respectively. The programs are free and open to ABA members and non-members alike.

Seventeen Seattle booksellers will be collaborating to crown some of their most dedicated customers as Indie Bookstore Champs.

ABA is inviting booksellers to three Booksellers Forums to be held on the West Coast from April 7 to 12: in Lake Forest Park, Washington, on April 7; in North Hollywood, California, on April 9; and in San Francisco, California, on April 12.

Two regional associations are banding together to present the “All About Events” retreat next month for bookstore owners and managers looking to fine-tune their event-planning skills with the help of fellow booksellers.

Booksellers are invited to ABA Booksellers Forums next week in Fort Collins, Colorado; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Spring Green, Wisconsin. Each will feature an open forum discussion of industry issues and the new ABA education session “Exploring New Markets.”

The ABA Booksellers Forum schedule includes programs on March 24, 25, and 26 in Colorado, Michigan, and Wisconsin, respectively. Each is free and open to all booksellers, including non-ABA members.

Booksellers are invited to join American Booksellers Association CEO Oren Teicher and Senior Program Officer Joy Dallanegra-Sanger at an ABA Spring Forum in Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday, March 11, or Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday, March 12.
