 Here's a quick Indie Next List deadline reminder as the hectic fall season kicks off.
Booksellers will have two opportunities in October 2009 to help create Indie Next Lists:
 ABA's popular list of notable Local First titles has received a makeover. Updated for 2009, the Indie Local First Reading List has a new design, new titles, new indie bookseller recommendations, and links to local first resources.
 Hundreds of IndieBound.org book information pages now feature "conversation starter" questions, courtesy of Reading Group Choices.
One teaser question appears on a page, and a click on "read more" brings up a full list of questions intended to provoke conversations among book groups and promote critical reading.
For the eight-week period ending September 9, 2009, and based on sales at independent bookstores nationwide.

Here's a preview of the October Indie Next List, now on its way to ABA member stores in the IndieBound movement, and a reminder that September Notable titles are now featured in a flier and shelf-talkers downloadable here and from BookWeb.org.
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the reporting deadlines for next week's Indie Bestseller Lists are being extended as follows: Reporting via BookScan will be extended until 10:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 8. Reporting through the ABA file upload and manual entry methods will be extended until 3:00 a.m. EDT, on Wednesday, September 9.
The Bestseller Lists will be produced, sent to stores, and posted to BookWeb late in the day on Wednesday.
 More than 70 ABA members have now migrated their store websites to Drupal, the new ABA IndieCommerce platform, with 24 launching since early August.

 Indie City, a new feature at IndieBound.org, is a collaboration between booksellers and independent publisher Kaie Wellman. In a series of front-page articles, IndieBound.org is featuring a city or region that's full of independents and highlighting the favorites of booksellers in the area.

Beginning this Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Books section will feature the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association/IndieBound Bestsellers List. The indie list replaces a bestseller list that was compiled by the newspaper itself.
