Publishers Weekly is seeking nominations for its 20th annual PW Bookstore and Sales Rep of the Year awards, to be presented in June at BookExpo America. The deadline for nominations is February 20.

The New York Library Association has presented its SirsiDynix Intellectual Freedom Award for 2011 to the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression.

At the 62^nd annual National Book Awards ceremony, held yesterday in New York City, stories of struggle were honored and the award winners, who included three women of color, gave voice to them. Also honored with lifetime achievement awards were Books & Books’ Mitchell Kaplan and poet John Ashbery.

On Wednesday, the finalists for the 2011 National Book Awards were announced in Portland, Oregon, as part of Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Think Out Loud morning radio program. This year’s list includes six titles chosen earlier this year by independent booksellers as Indie Next List Great Reads.
