Oren Teicher, the American Booksellers Association's new Chief Executive Officer, today announced the appointment of Len Vlahos to fill the post of Chief Operating Officer. The position was vacated when the ABA Board promoted Teicher to CEO.
This week, ABA CEO Oren Teicher gave a presentation at the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) convention, where he provided an introduction to the IndieBound movement and shared examples of how indie retailers working together could both promote sales and raise the public's awareness about the importance of independent retailers.

This year's American Booksellers Association Town Hall and Annual Membership meetings will be held on Friday, May 29, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City in conjunction with BookExpo America.
The results of balloting by the bookstore members of the American Booksellers Association to elect three Board directors and a new president and vice president are now official.
This year's Board of Directors elections, whose results will be announced next week, was the first in which many ABA member bookstores voted electronically. The new voting procedure significantly cut printing and mailing expenses and helped ABA become a more environmentally friendly organization. Before ABA could send bookstores a ballot via electronic means, however, due to the way ABA's Bylaws are written, this year members had to opt in to the process.
Last month, when ABA President Gayle Shanks announced the appointment of Oren J. Teicher as ABA's new CEO, she noted that the details surrounding the new CEO contract would be made available to the membership when they were finalized. This week, Shanks and ABA Vice President Michael Tucker are reporting to members the details concerning Teicher's contract.
