Independent bookstores with Book Sense will begin receiving the Children's Picks fliers, which are being mailed directly from the printer, during the week of August 28. The Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association (MPIBA) will welcome stores from Texas and Oklahoma (previously members of the disbanded Mid-South Independent Booksellers Association) to its Fall Trade Show, to be held from Thursday, September 14, through Sunday, September 17, at the Marriott Denver Tech Center in Denver.

It's Now or Never: ABACUS Deadline Next Week

Booksellers wishing to participate in this year's ABACUS survey are reminded that the deadline for submitting data is midnight on Tuesday, August 15. Every bookstore submitting data by the deadline will receive a customized report on their financial performance, as well as a $50 rebate check off their ABA membership dues.

NAIBA & AMIBA Partner to Help Booksellers Create Indie Alliances

The New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) has partnered with the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) in an effort to help its members create independent business alliances. NAIBA will help subsidize the cost of AMIBA membership for 11 members' independent business alliances and will sponsor AMIBA "road tours."
