IndieCommerce One-on-One Appointments in Orlando

There is still time to register online today for an IndieCommerce one-on-one appointment at the upcoming ABC Children’s Institute in Orlando. Registration for the Children’s Institute is not required to attend an IndieCommerce one-on-one session.

Appointments are available for Tuesday, June 21; Wednesday, June 22; and Thursday, June 23; however, time slots are limited so booksellers should choose multiple options. IndieCommerce staff will try to accommodate a bookseller’s first request. An e-mail confirmation with the appointment time and date will be sent prior to Ci4. Meetings will be held in the Hibiscus Room of the Wyndham Orlando Resort International.

To move or cancel an appointment, e-mail [email protected] as soon as possible.

IndieCommerce Webinars Are Back

The next webinar is scheduled for Thursday, June 9, and the topic is how to get started using discount coupons on IndieCommerce. The seminar, which will be in three parts, begins with the basics and configuration. Over the next two weeks, the webinars will move to more complex uses of coupons.

Register online for this free webinar today.

New IndieCommerce Features

Collapsed checkout panes: Instead of presenting one very long checkout page to your customers, this feature turns that long page into smaller, less intimidating, bite-sized portions. Here is an example:

This feature can be enabled at: Store -> Configuration -> Checkout.

Send personalized mass e-mails from a view: For example, a store sold tickets for an author event and a week before would like to send an e-mail reminder to all ticketholders. The store can create a view to pull up the customer e-mails associated with orders for that event ticket and send a mass e-mail. For now, the e-mail can only be plain text.

For more information about setting up this feature, stores should send an e-mail to [email protected] so IndieCommerce staff can enable the necessary modules.

Tips and Tricks

Communication tips

Always write to [email protected] for a prompt response and...

  • Include your store name and site URL in all communications as part of your signature. There are stores that have the same name so the site URL is the only way IndieCommerce staff can identify the correct site.
  • Include all relevant information in the e-mail. For example, for order-related inquiries include the order ID.
  • If your hired developers write directly to us, make sure that they copy you on their e-mail communications.

The IndieCommerce team always welcomes booksellers’ thoughts, questions, and suggestions at [email protected].
