IndieCommunication: IndieCommerce Fall Webinars, a New Feature & More
Second Webinar Signup Opens September 30
After an announcement in last week’s edition of IndieCommunication, signup for the first in a series of fall IndieCommerce training webinars filled up in no time. Each of the webinars is being limited to 20 participants to ensure a lot of interaction between the IndieCommerce team and booksellers.
Mark your calendars: Signup for the next webinar — to be held on October 7 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time — will begin on Wednesday, September 30.
Future webinars are planned for October 21, November 4, and November 18, all from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Watch for signup details in future editions of IndieCommunication.
Each webinar of 60 minutes will be conducted via GoToMeeting. IndieCommerce staff will be available to discuss any topics of booksellers’ choosing, even if they are not in the training materials. The hope is to spend a concentrated time on a single topic, such as a new feature.
Site administrators are also encouraged to visit the IndieCommerce Video Training Center on BookWeb.org to see these five new videos: Creating a Block, Adding Content, Theme Key, Uploading Images, and Content Types – An Overview.
Fraudulent Orders on the Rise
Though there usually is an increase in fraudulent orders in the months of September and February, mainly for expensive textbooks, this year IndieCommerce is seeing a rise in fraudulent orders for less expensive books.
Advice on dealing with fraudulent orders and tips on spotting them are available here.
New Feature: Variable Price Module, Great for Gift Cards
A Variable Price feature is now available to IndieCommerce sites. When added to a product, this feature will allow customers to choose what they want to pay. It’s a perfect fit for gift cards, as it allows customers to enter any gift card denomination of their choice. (At present, gift card denominations are fixed). The Variable Price feature can also be used for donations.
This module will be enabled for IndieCommerce sites upon request, and documentation will be posted in the IndieCommerce Help Center within the week.
