Two Indie Bookstores Win Events With Author Jason Reynolds
Following November’s “Indie Bookstores Give Back on Small Business Saturday” campaign (#IndiesGiveBack), more than 80 participating American Booksellers Association member stores submitted proposals for an opportunity to win an event with author Jason Reynolds.
Stores that participated in the program donated special-edition copies of Reynolds’ Ghost to young readers in underserved communities on or around Small Business Saturday, November 24.
Two stores have won events with Reynolds:
- The Novel Neighbor, St. Louis, Missouri
- Scuppernong Books, Greensboro, North Carolina
Reynolds will visit both stores in April.
Award-winning author Reynolds served as the 2018 Indies First spokesperson, and to support his mission of providing children in low-income communities with access to books that reflect their own experiences, the American Booksellers Association and American Express worked together with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing to make available 20,000 special edition copies of Ghost, the first book in Reynolds’ New York Times bestselling Track series, during the 2018 holiday season.
