Two Contests Offer Chances to Win Money and Prizes

Enter by February 9 for FedEx’s Small Business Grant Contest

FedEx will be awarding a total of $50,000 to 10 deserving U.S. small businesses in March during its second nationwide Small Business Grant Contest. The grand prize winner will receive a $25,000 grant, four first place winners will each receive $5,000, and five second place winners will each receive $1,000.

Grant contest registration is open at fedex.com/grantcontest until 11:59 p.m. ET on February 9, 2014.

Small businesses with fewer than 100 employees should complete a profile that will be voted on by Facebook users, and businesses are encouraged to promote their profile for votes through their social media networks. Votes will boost a business’ visibility in the contest and will be considered in the judging process.

To register, participants must upload their company logo with three photos that reflect their business, enter their contact information, and tell FedEx about their business and how they would utilize the grant to enhance it. All accepted entries will be posted to the contest website.

BizClips Small Business Video Contest Entries Due February 25

BizClips video production company is offering $3,500 in prizes and free publicity to the winner of the BizClips Small Business Productivity Makeover Video Contest. Entries are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on February 25, 2014. The contest is sponsored by SCORE, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping small businesses, and Brother International, which provides print and communications products and services.

In celebration of SCORE’s 50th anniversary, small businesses are asked to create a 30- to 60-second video that highlights why their store needs a makeover and how SCORE has helped or could help them meet their business challenges. Once the video submission is uploaded, small businesses are encouraged to share their story via social media during the month of April to gain votes for their business. All entries will be posted on the contest website on April 1.

Judges will select 25 finalists who will receive a Brother P-Touch label maker. The grand prize winner will receive a store makeover with up to $2,500 in products from Brother International, will have a professional promotional video created for them, and will be flown to Washington, D.C., for SCORE’s Awards Gala.
