Tattered Cover to Sell Only Book Sense Gift Certificates with Bar Codes

Beginning April 1, Denver’s Tattered Cover Book Store will sell only Book Sense gift certificates in its stores in Cherry Creek and historic LoDo and on its Web site, www.tatteredcover.com. The store has made some slight modifications in the design of the gold Book Sense gift certificate to allow for ease of identification by its Square One POS system. One of the changes to the original gold design is the use on the back of the certificate of a bar code, which includes the certificate’s sequential number. (On Book Sense gift certificates used by other stores, this number appears in the top right-hand corner along with the store’s identification number.) Tattered Cover’s identification number appears in the middle of the certificate.

With the launch of these new certificates by Tattered Cover, there will be three styles of Book Sense Gift Certificates in use: the original blue gift certificate, the gold gift certificate, and the slightly modified gold certificate from Tattered Cover with the bar code on the back. (See samples of these three designs below.)

Booksellers with questions about gift certificates, or those interested in adding bar codes to the back of certificates in use at their stores, should contact Jill Perlstein, ABA director of marketing services, at [email protected] or (800) 637-0037, ext. 1283.
