Booksellers should check their inboxes for a link to a survey seeking input on group health insurance options. The e-mail was sent by the American Booksellers Association on Wednesday, November, 7, with the subject line “ABA’s Health Insurance Initiative,” and the deadline to complete the survey is Monday, November 19.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. The survey has been created for organizations whose members consist of individuals and/or companies; booksellers can skip any questions that are not relevant to them, but more information is always appreciated.

For many years, at the urging of its members, ABA has been exploring the feasibility of developing some form of group health insurance that stores could offer to their employees. To this end, ABA is now working in conjunction with several other book industry associations to identify options for health insurance for their collective memberships.

While this is simply the first step in a potentially lengthy process and there is no guarantee of any specific outcome, ABA is seeking to garner further data about what kind of program might attract store participation.

Only one survey per ABA member store should be completed. Booksellers are asked to respond by Monday, November 19, at 8:00 p.m. EST. All data will be kept confidential.

Questions about the survey can be sent to ABA CFO Robyn DesHotel.
