Registration for the American Booksellers Association’s 2014 Children’s Institute in San Antonio, Texas, opens today to booksellers at all ABA member stores. The April 6 – 7 event, which offers more than a full day of networking and dedicated programming for children’s booksellers, is made possible by lead sponsor Baker & Taylor with additional support from publishers large and small.

Events begin on Sunday evening, April 6, at the host hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton San Antonio Downtown Hotel, with an opening plenary, featuring bestselling author Brad Meltzer, followed by a poolside reception.

A full day of programming on Monday, April 7, starts with a breakfast plenary and continues with a diverse array of educational programming, featured author talks, a children’s rep picks lunch, bookseller roundtables, and a closing author reception.

The institute’s education session topics include:

• Selling Picture Books in the Wake of Age Compression
• How to Address Censorship in Schools
• Diversity in Children’s Literature
• The Law of Attraction: How to Entice Publicists and Authors
• Child Development & Literacy
• How to Host a Successful Teacher Night
