The American Booksellers Association recently welcomed Ryan Quinn, the newest addition to the IndieCommerce support team, to its offices in White Plains, New York.

In her position as one of three IndieCommerce specialists, Quinn has direct contact with IndieCommerce users. Her job includes helping stores work with site themes and troubleshooting problems on their websites.

“I like that I’m helping smaller businesses like independent bookstores compete online,” Quinn said, “and I like making sure it’s always a smooth and easy process. They have much larger issues to deal with than just maintaining a website presence. I personally look for a website before I shop somewhere. In today’s society, you need a website. Even if you’re not using it for e-commerce, you need to present your store online.”

Quinn, who worked as an e-commerce customer support specialist at an optical distributor for contact and eyeglass lenses for the last 12 years, said she has a strong affinity for assisting clients build their web presence. Just as she helped her doctor clients compete against large online retailers such as 1-800-CONTACTS  by providing their practices with e-commerce options, Quinn said she is excited to help IndieCommerce users optimize and maintain their store websites to better compete.

“My goal is to facilitate a positive and easy program experience for booksellers so that they can concentrate on their core business goals,” said Quinn, a native New Yorker who currently resides in the Bronx. “I’m most focused on customer care. I like to make sure customers are getting what they need and that we’re doing everything we can to make enhancing their businesses easier.”

Quinn works alongside IndieCommerce specialists Scott Nafz and Chanthee Keokhaw on the team led by Neil Strandberg, ABA’s director of technology. “We’re quickly seeing how Ryan’s past experience is helping us at IndieCommerce,” said Strandberg.

Most recently, Quinn worked as a client care coordinator at an eye care store, where she assisted the attending doctor with patient care needs. In her spare time, Quinn enjoys reading as many books as possible across all genres, and she plans to attend BookCon this year, following BookExpo America.

Booksellers are encouraged to introduce themselves to ABA’s newest hire at BEA. Quinn will be joining her fellow IndieCommerce specialists as they hold one-on-one meetings with booksellers in the ABA Member Lounge (Room 214 on the trade show floor) at the Javits Convention Center. Appointment signup is open now.

Booksellers can reach Quinn directly at [email protected] or as part of the IndieCommerce team at [email protected].
