March 1 Deadline for BEA Scholarship Applications

ABA member booksellers who have not attended BookExpo America since 2012 have just a few days left to fill out an application for a chance to win one of 60 BEA Scholarships of $435 each. March 1 is the last day to apply for the scholarships, which were created by BEA to help defray booksellers’ hotel and travel costs to the 2015 trade show. BEA will be held from Wednesday, May 27, to Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

To qualify for the scholarships, in addition to not having attended BEA since 2012, booksellers must commit to staying at least one night at this year’s Hotel ABA, the Grand Hyatt New York, located at 42nd Street and Grand Central Terminal. The hotel’s special ABA rate of $275 plus tax per night (single/double occupancy) is available until May 1, 2015, or until the block sells out, whichever comes first. Booksellers are encouraged to make their reservations as soon as possible.

As in previous years, all ABA member stores are eligible to receive free admission to the BEA exhibit hall and conference sessions. Booksellers must register for the show via the BEA website.

This year’s festivities will begin on Tuesday evening, May 26, with the American Booksellers for Free Expression’s Annual Children’s Book Art Auction and Reception at Hotel ABA.
