Important Deadline for IndieCommerce Site Migrations

In an e-mail aimed at IndieCommerce stores whose websites have not yet migrated to the Drupal 7 platform, ABA Technology Director Neil Strandberg announced this week that all remaining website upgrades would take place between January 5 and March 31, 2015, the deadline set for completion of the migration. At the end of that period, hosting for websites on the Drupal 6 platform will expire.

To accommodate a bookstore’s preferred timing and to help organize the American Booksellers Association’s resources, the IndieCommerce team has created a registration process that allows booksellers to choose the week that they would like to receive their upgraded content. There are a limited number of available migrations each week, and slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The registration page, D7 Migration Queue Signup, is part of the IndieCommerce D7 upgrade help site. To access the registration page, stores will first need to create an account.

Beginning December 1, the IndieCommerce team will unilaterally choose the timing for stores that have not registered a preference via the signup page.

Receiving upgraded content is step one of the migration; step two is going “live.” The goal is for stores to go live within two weeks of receiving their content, so booksellers should plan accordingly.

Questions relating to any aspect of the upgrade should be addressed to [email protected].
