To kick off the Book Sense - History Channel Hardcover History in-store promotion campaign, The History Channel will present an advance screening of a documentary based on the first book spotlighted in the promotion, Blood From a Stone: The Quest for the Life Diamonds by Yaron Svoray and Richard Hammer (Forge), for ABA bookstore members only at this year's BookExpo America. The screening will be held on May 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the theater at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Author Svoray will introduce the documentary.

"This screening is an extraordinary chance for booksellers to see the exciting human story -- and meet the fascinating author -- of a moving and mysterious little-known WWII episode concerning the Life Diamonds. Please join us to meet Yaron Svoray, get an autographed copy of Blood From a Stone, and see the docu-movie before the rest of the world," said Meg Smith, associate director for Book Sense Marketing.

Booksellers who wish to attend should RSVP as soon as possible to Smith at [email protected]. All e-mails must include in the subject heading the phrase "BEA Screening." Since the L.A. Convention Center theater has a capacity of only 300, the screening is limited to those who RSVP first. Refreshments will be served. Specify in your e-mail response how many people will be coming, your name, and the name of your store.

The History Channel documentary based on Blood From a Stone will air Monday, June 9, at 9:00 p.m. EST/8:00 p.m. CST.

Book Sense and the History Channel will launch the monthly in-store promotion Hardcover History this June. The program will entice readers to experience history by matching exceptional books with extraordinary television. Each month, History Channel programs will be paired with complementary reading suggestions, which Book Sense stores can then market in their bookstore with the help of display materials -- such as promotional bookmarks renewed monthly and a display easel -- provided by Book Sense.
