Heartfelt Recommendations Needed for a Special Valentine

This Friday, December 10, is the deadline for the Book Sense 2005 Valentine's Day Top Ten. This list is compiled in conjunction with the Association of American Publishers' (AAP) Get Caught Reading initiative and is part of a series of seasonal Top Ten lists that Book Sense and AAP produce each year based on the nominations of independent booksellers nationwide.

Book Sense Picks Editor-in-Chief Dan Cullen strongly encourages booksellers to send in nominations for frontlist and backlist titles -- either adult or children's titles -- that would make good Valentine's Day selections. Please send the nominations to [email protected] or use the Picks Web nomination form at www.bookweb.org/read/6305.

This year, the National Retail Federation projected that just under 60 percent of American consumers would celebrate Valentine's Day, with spending estimated to reach $12.79 billion. The 2005 Valentine's Day Top Ten will offer booksellers a strong selection of titles for in-store displays and an opportunity to capitalize on consumer interest. Booksellers will be receiving the list in the January Red Box.

Many thanks in advance for helping to make this list a success!
