On Thursday, August 7, Good Morning America announced that Life of Pi: A Novel, by Yann Martel (Harvest), a Book Sense Top Ten pick and 2003 Book Sense Book of the Year Fiction Finalist, is the 13th selection for the morning show's "Read This!" book club.

The 2002 Man Booker Prize-winner, touted by readers as a universal story of survival, was recommended to the Book Sense list by Stephen Grutzmacher, Passtimes Books, Sister Bay, Wisconsin. He wrote, "Martel weaves a brilliant tale that is part adventure story and part spiritual quest. The part of the book that relates how Pi becomes a practicing Hindu/Moslem/Christian is worth the price of the book, and the portion that deals with Pi and a Bengal tiger adrift on the ocean in a lifeboat together is everything you might imagine and more."

GMA's "Read This!" segment features one book club recommending a book of its choice to another book club and GMA viewers. For more on this "Read This!" book club pick, click here.
