GLBA & NEBA Trade Shows This Weekend

The Great Lakes Booksellers Association (GLBA) and the New England Booksellers Association (NEBA) fall trade shows will be held from Friday, October 8, to Sunday, October 10, in Dearborn, Michigan, and Boston, respectively. At each, ABA is sponsoring educational programs and featuring Book Sense Gift Card demonstrations in a booth on the trade show floor.

This year, the emphasis at the GLBA trade show at the Dearborn Hyatt Regency will be "Making It on Main Street," and, as part of ABA's educational offerings, ABA COO Oren Teicher will moderate "Forming Local Business Alliances" on Sunday, October 10, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. In addition, on Friday, October 8, ABA is sponsoring a Book Sense Gift Card Users Group, from 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. (For more information about the GLBA trade show, click here.)

At the NEBA trade show at Boston's World Trade Center, ABA is sponsoring three educational programs: On Saturday, October 9, a Book Sense Gift Card Users Group will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., and a BookSense.com Users Group will meet from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.; on Sunday, October 10, ABA CEO Avin Mark Domnitz will present "The 2% Solution" from 10:00 a.m. - noon. At both shows, in addition to presenting gift card demonstrations, ABA staff will be seeking bookseller input to help guide the direction of future educational programming.

As an incentive to try the gift card, ABA will waive the one-time $25 set-up fee for booksellers signing up at the shows. (Booksellers planning to sign up at the show will need to bring their checking account information. For more details about Book Sense gift cards, click here.)

Booksellers dropping off the "ABA Education 2005 Survey" -- which was sent to members via e-mail and can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking here -- at the ABA booth will be entered into a sweepstakes to win a color, inkjet computer printer. Survey forms will also be available at the booth.
