February Notables Fliers, Notable Deadlines

The PDF files of the February Book Sense Notables fliers and shelf-talkers, featuring booksellers' comments, are now available on BookWeb's Picks page, along with the full list of February Book Sense Picks titles.

Independent booksellers in the Book Sense program will be receiving their printed fliers in the February Red Box. The flier includes jacket images, bibliographic information, and booksellers' quotes.

A PDF template of four generic shelf-talkers that booksellers can use to promote their favorite Book Sense Picks may also be downloaded.

The schedule of 2006 Picks nomination deadlines is now available. There are three opportunities for booksellers to nominate titles for the Book Sense Picks lists in the next month: the April Picks list, the Easter/Passover Top Ten, and the Poetry Top Ten.

The deadlines for the three lists are:

• February 3 -- April Picks
• February 10 -- Easter/Passover Top Ten
• February 10 -- Poetry Top Ten

Publishers' spring lists feature a number of compelling titles, and booksellers are encouraged to nominate titles they are excited about handselling to the Picks list. In addition, the specialty lists offer a chance to nominate both backlist and frontlist titles (in hardcover or paperback).

"We had really great participation in the selection process for the most recent top ten list, the Valentine's Day list," said Book Sense Editor-in-Chief Dan Cullen, "which resulted in a wonderful list. I hope we can continue this level of participation with the next three lists as well. And, of course, many thanks to all of the booksellers who have been participating in the selection process."
