'Day of Education' Makes a Program Change

The American Booksellers Association has announced a schedule change for its Thursday, May 31, "Day of Education" at this year's Hotel ABA, the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Based on member interest, a second presentation of "How to Be the Story: Developing and Implementing a Public Relations Plan" will be offered on Thursday afternoon. This session will take the place of a previously scheduled session on handselling.

"An informal poll of booksellers who are registered for the 'Day of Education' showed us that there was a real demand for an additional session on developing public relations plans," said ABA Education Director Len Vlahos. "We decided to repeat this session so that as many of our members who have an interest in attending could." On the other hand, he added, "We found that many booksellers had already participated in the handselling session when ABA offered it at one of the regional shows."

"How to Be the Story," which will demonstrate how booksellers can formulate and execute an effective PR plan, will be presented by ABA Membership Director Meg Smith on Thursday, from 1:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m., and at 3:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
