Colleagues and friends of Milwaukee bookseller A. David Schwartz, owner of Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops in Milwaukee, have created a special way to celebrate the bookseller's 65th birthday and to show their support as Schwartz recovers from recent cancer surgery. They are collecting new books that will be donated to three local Milwaukee charities: COA Youth and Family Centers, The JCC Parenting Center and Library, and Milwaukee Women's Center.

Anyone wishing to participate can send books to the Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops, 219 N. Milwaukee St., Milwaukee, WI 53202; or books can be ordered through the store's Web site at http://www.schwartzbooks.com/ or by calling (800) 689-9902. A special card will be sent to Schwartz for each donation.

In a letter to the bookselling community, Mary Catherine McCarthy, general manager of the Schwartz Bookshops, described Schwartz as remaining "resilient, strong, and passionately concerned about the Schwartz booksellers and bookshops…. We in the Schwartz Bookshops' family are grateful for all of the good thoughts and support we have received from the book community."
