Time Posts List of "Best 100 Novels"

Time magazine has posted online the "Time's Critics Picks of the 100 Best Novels: From 1923 to the Present." Lev Grossman and Richard Lacayo chose the titles for the list of best English-language novels, which includes The Adventures of Augie March by Saul Bellow, Play It As It Lays by Joan Didion, and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Warner Books Launches New Imprint for Latinas

On October 12, Warner Books announced the launch of Solana (Spanish for where the sun shines), a new imprint serving Latinas, "who are immersed in the American mainstream while maintaining ties to their culture." Solana will publish six English-language trade paperback novels a year that celebrate Latino life and feature characters of various Hispanic origins. This new imprint will be exclusively devoted to commercial women's fiction by established and emerging authors.


Lambda Literary Foundation Has New Executive Director & New Address

On October 14, The Lambda Literary Foundation announced the appointment of Charles Flowers as its new executive director. The appointment comes after several months of reorganization and extensive planning for the future by the Board of Directors.

A 15 year-plus veteran of publishing and arts administration, Flowers has served as the co-chair of the Publishing Triangle, the association of lesbians and gay men in publishing, and was most recently the associate director of the Academy of American Poets, which he joined in 1999. He is the founding editor of BLOOM, a journal for lesbian and gay writing.

Recently, the American Booksellers Association was mentioned in a New York Times crossword puzzle. In the Wednesday, October 19, puzzle, "ABA" was the answer to the following clue: "Host to annual publishers' convention."
